Nothing like venturing out before dawn to a little viewpoint above Woodstock (Cape Town) to take some early morning shots. Thermos of tea, some food, good mate, better light (!), and this, my favourite, shot of about 30 non-deleted ones. One of the best things about photography is the way it forces you to chase light in the evenings, and await light in the mornings – forcing good habits of patience and waking early. Another great thing is being forced to see beauty in the world – for no one wants ugly photos – and we even found beauty in Woodstock. Lastly, it makes you take photos, cos hey, why on earth would you get out of bed at some obscene hour just to have tea on a dirty floor?
